文法も大事ですが自分の考えをまとめ、組み立てることが一番必要です。
自分の言いたいことを英語でうまく言えたときの楽しさを経験してもらいたいと思います。

- Speech Contests
At Seisen, I am very interested in helping students communicate in English. That is why I organized a Japanese speech contest during our school festival. A Japanese speech contest organized by a Canadian? But why?
During our festival, we have an English Speech and Recitation Contest which I strongly encourage my students to enter. It is a beneficial experience, especially for the students who want to become teachers. Some students, however, have never even given a speech in their native language, Japanese. Is it fair for an English teacher to make his students do something in English, even though the students have never done it in Japanese? It is okay to do that sometimes, but not always. Students should have the chance to do it first in their native language. Then, when it comes time to doing it in English, it will seem much easier. That is why I organized a Japanese Speech Contest for my students.
